85°C/85 % RH TestingIn optical, electronic, and optoelectronic applications involving fiber optic bundles, sensors, connectors, and similar devices, the reliability of the device is critical. This is determined through various types of accelerated and storage testing. Based on the requirements within the Telcordia GR-1221 test specification for damp heat storage testing i.e. 85°C and 85% relative humidity, Master Bond has independently tested a substantial number of compounds to determine their feasibility for use under such conditions.

Benefits of 85°C/85%RH Tested Adhesives

Master Bond has been formulating special adhesives, coatings, sealants, and encapsulants, over the years, that provide a high Tg, hardness retention properties after 85°C and 85% humidity for 1,000 hours, and low levels of outgassing. Cured castings were prepared, and submitted to a prestigious well known independent testing laboratory. The hardness was measured before a 1,000 hour exposure at 85°C and 85% humidity. The hardness change is then measured after this exposure. Maintaining the same level of hardness was used to ascertain which Master Bond products performed favorably.

85°C and 85% relative humidity reliability testing is useful in the determination of expected operating life for devices used in many critical industrial applications. Studies are being conducted to provide precise parameters for service operating exposures to ensure integrity of packaging and resistance to degradation. This accelerated testing was performed to measure different formulations that feature a range of performance/processing characteristics and help the selection process in choosing compounds that can withstand specific subjected conditions. Master Bond technical specialists will review your requirements to address humidity/temperature specifications to advance device qualification and hasten utilization.

Master Bond’s applications’ specialists work with design and process engineers. As always, Master Bond is continuing to research and develop new formulations, and is conducting such rigorous testing to help engineers meet their specialized needs.
